Abu Dhabi's hotels witness record month

Figures released by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) reveal a 19 per cent increase in visitors to Abu Dhabi last month. The destination's hotels welcomed 226,002 guests in September, generating 714,577 nights, an increase of 26 per cent.

The UK remains the emirate's second largest overseas market with 109,330 Britons checking into Abu Dhabi hotels in the first nine months of this year - a 10 per cent increase on 2012. British guests accounted for 518,571 guest nights - an increase of 21 per cent year-on-year - with an average length of stay of 4.74 nights, again up 10 per cent on the previous year.

Shisha cafes to be restricted to places 150 metres away from residential buildings and populated neighbourhoods, schools, mosques, and others.

Tougher rules related to shisha smoking in cafes and eateries, both public and private, across the country’s Capital will be implemented early next year, in a bid to promote a stop-smoking message.

Abu Dhabi Business Centre (ADBC), affiliated to the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, announced that it would start the application of the Regulations of Federal Law No. (15) of the year 2009 on tobacco control.

Adrenaline junkies can get their speed fix every day as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi moves to a seven-day operational week starting September 30th, 2013.

The move – which was first announced during Arabian Travel Market last May – will see the world’s largest indoor and only Ferrari-branded theme park open all week long, including Mondays when the Park normally closes to the public.

The Ipsos Top Cities Index surveyed people in 24 countries around the world in the period of 5-19 February 2013, on their views for the best cities in which to do business, live in and best to visit.
