Traffic chaos in Abu Dhabi city

Abu Dhabi: Around five-hour-long traffic chaos witnessed in Abu Dhabi city on Tuesday evening was caused by the engine failure of a truck that blocked a road inside the city, according to Abu Dhabi Municipality.

It was not clear whether delay in removing the 'failed truck' caused the chaos as the municipality did not explain it and senior Traffic Police Officials were not available for comments. However, an Abu Dhabi Police offcial confirmed that no road accdidents caused the bottleneck.

Some schools are really giving pain in the *** when you want to enroll the kids to the schools especially the good ones. Looking at the requirements , as if you are enrolling your kids to one of the top universities.

Etihad has world's Best First Class - Skytrax

Etihad Airways has the world’s best First Class product and service. The confirmation of the news came on Thursday May 20, at the announcement in Hamburg of the results of the latest Skytrax survey of 200 airlines across the world. The Abu Dhabi-based airline won three titles for its First Class at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, following a poll of almost 18 million global air travelers, from more than 100 countries.

Etihad won the awards for:
- World's Best First Class;
- Best First Class Airline Seat; and
- Best First Class Onboard Catering

Mawaqif extend paid parkings in Abu Dhabi

The capital’s paid-parking programme was to be extended today in a move aimed at tackling the chronic shortage of spaces.

The Department of Transport this morning was to roll out an additional 2,159 spaces – of which 723 are underground – as part of the Mawaqif initiative.

ID card requirements change for UAE residents - The National

In a reversal, the Emirates Identity Authority has agreed “to relieve the panic” at ID centres by allowing residents to register vehicles and obtain driver’s licenses using their passports.

The about-face comes after a mad rush of residents jammed Emirates ID card registration centres in recent days, following an announcement from the Ministry of Interior that ID cards would be required for traffic and licensing services beginning May 2.
