Etihad Airways launches South Africa cabin crew recruitment drive

Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways has launched a cabin crew recruitment drive, as part of an effort to tap the “strategically important market” for the airline.

“To support the rapid, dynamic expansion of Etihad Airways, we are delighted to host our recruitment drive in South Africa, a strategically important market for the airline,” Aubrey Tiedt, Etihad Airways’ Vice President Guest Services, said in a statement.

“We hope to attract and recruit individuals who are incredibly passionate and dedicated to deliver remarkable hospitality,” she added.

Applicants will be able to attend a recruitment day which will take place in Cape Town on May 6.

“Our team hails from more than 110 nationalities and enjoys great career development opportunities commencing as cabin crew, inflight chefs or food and beverage managers, and progressing to onboard leadership and management roles.”

Nearly 243 South African nationals currently work for Etihad Airways, including 107 core staff, 120 cabin crew and 16 pilots. Cabin crew are all based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Etihad Airways began operations in 2003, and in 2013 carried 11.5 million passengers.
