Abu Dhabi’s new luxury mall The Galleria at Sowwah Square opened its doors on Tuesday, bringing more than 50 new fashion labels and several new food and beverage brands to the capital for the first time.
Covering three levels, with 33,000 sqm of retail space, the centre has been designed to attract high end shoppers, including wealthy tourists.
It features brands such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Prada, Gucci, Bulgari, Dior, Fendi, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Tag Heuer, Jimmy Choo and Diane von Furstenberg.
Its 25 food and beverage outlets include an Armani Caffé and licenced waterfront restaurants and cafes, which are due to open next month.

It is the first time many of the brands will be available in Abu Dhabi.
Built by UAE-based Gulf Related, The Galleria is connected to the Rosewood Hotel and also will join a Four Seasons hotel under construction.
Gulf Related managing director of development Kevin Ryan said the mall aimed to attract mid and upper tier consumers.
“We have done quite a few things to hopefully appeal to the Emirati audience, not just through offering luxury in particular but many of the stores have been custom designed to have private showrooms,” Ryan told Arabian Business.
“So we anticipate a good mix but definitely the expat audience [as well].
“Over time we hope we’ll be attracting a tourist component – shopping tourism. We’re collaborating with the Rosewood Hotel in terms of reaching out into the GCC markets, particularly Saudi Arabia. Because of the combination of the Rosewood [and The Galleria] we believe we will become a tourism draw as well.”
The mall, on Al Maryah Island, will eventually be connected to Sowwah Central, a mixed use development featuring a 214,000 sqm shopping centre and adjoining hotel and residential towers due to open in spring 2017. Both are being developed by Gulf Related.
Ryan said the development had run smoothly.
“Everything looks fantastic, we’re really excited about our opening,” he said.
“It’s quite spectacular. Retailers are giving us the feedback it’s an international quality environment we’ve created. Our views are spectacular looking across a reflecting pool and the Abu Dhabi skyline.
