Security Clearence Rejected for Some Nationalities in AbuDhabi

KingB's picture
Earned points :12

Hi i work in HR Consultancy, and to my experience and many other colleges in HR...currently the following Nationalities are getting Security Clearance REJECTED regardless of your record, If you are applying for a job in Government / Semi-Government in Abu Dhabi:

- Yemen (since 2010)
- Egypt
- Syria
- Libya
- Lebanon (few are affected not all)
- Somalia (since 2009)
- Pakistan (some not all)

This applies ONLY if you are applying for a Government job in ABU DHABI. This does not affect your visa, it has nothing to do with visa...if you get job in private company you can work and get visa no problem....but basically you cannot work in any government / Semi-Gov company if your clearance is rejected (which were the high pay salaries are)

I really hope ABU DHABI GOVERNMENT CHANGES this, many nationalities are suffering. And we have trouble hiring people, the only nationalities we hire for Government now are Westerners, Europeans and Indians.

Unfortunately There is no way

KingB's picture

Unfortunately There is no way for anyone to know when will this change. According to what we know among HR professionals, Its all up to the Abu Dhabi Government. For example if they decide in the next couple of months to allow Yemenis or Egyptians to work, it will happen, but there is no timeline or official announcements. And i hope they do!

Hey KingB,

Just wondering if Palestinians are included in this?
Also was wondering if NPCC(National Petroleum Construction Company) requires a security pass.

Btw I have also been rejected being born in UAE and holding a New Zealand passport. (parents are Palestinian)

Good News is that we have

KingB's picture

Good News is that we have received according to many HR professional Circles, it seems AbuDhabi has relaxed its clearance for Egyptians, Libyans.

Yemenis still continue to suffer v harsh clearance rejections, i do hope the AbuDhabi Gov with its great leadership eases this and allows Yemenis to work for Government organizations once again. Especially since there is a large Yemeni population in the UAE trying to survive here.

Warlord: Regarding Palestinian, i did not hear about Palestinians having problem, it might be rare that they get rejected possibly due certain detailed criteria. Especially your case you have NewZealand passport..So i cannot comment further.

Regarding Tunisia & Morocco, i did not hear any problems with these nationalities.

Manolli: Regarding Lebanese, i apologize but i cannot comment further.

Good luck to everyone and may God Bless you.

Dear KingB

No word was said regarding security clearance for algerians
we are more than 60 engineers and all waiting it since last February despite we sent to HR all documents requested

Could you share with us any info regarding this nationality, when they will start releasing it after all this pending time

PS: some of my colleagues resigned from their positions after they were informed that they were fit in medical test and succeeded in the interview thinking every thing will be OK after that but...

ADCO has invited this month people from Asia for interview and they were offered positions of Arabs selected in the previous interview in the first quarter of the year. ADCO HR knows no change to get security clearance for arabs as the goverment instructed them to do not come back and request this clearance for any arab
In normal cases this clearance shloud de issued after 3 weeks from submitting all documents but after two months of waiting be sure that the candidate is rejected

ebdoosh's picture

Hatem,

I am so sorry to hear that. I believe ADCO is facing situation imposed by the govt. If the company was not interested in you & your expertise, you would have not been offered the position in the first place. Myself being in ADNOC group, I feel that they are not the best company, so dont be so down. There are some other companies which I think better in this region. Especially with the fall of Libya & the like, there will be more opportunity and perhaps better renumeration offer. In addition to that I believe once the security clearance restriction has been lifted, ADNOC group recruitment process will return back to its normal course. In a meantime, good luck in your career endeavour!!

So sorry to hear that your security clearance is rejected. In which company did u applied....ADNOC? I am a Pakistani too so a little worried about it.

I wanted to know as my husband is in the same process these days.He has accepted a job in ADMA. His degrees are under attestion process from the UAE embassy. And the company has send the employment contract through courier. All this is happening before the security clearance. Does this means that they know there will not any problem in the security clearance?

He has not resigned from the current company yet. He will resign once the visa is here.

Update

KingB's picture

First of all it is incorrect to say that security clearance is rejected for "all arabs" , this is not true many Arabic nationalities continue to receive clearance, such as Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, GCC, etc among many others.

Hatem, regarding your situation I'm v sorry to hear that, i hope you can find something else. I can confirm to you again that security clearance for Egyptians has definitely been relaxed compared to the beginning of 2011, but we have seen and still see few people get Rejected, so it is not 100% for everyone, which explains what happened to you. My advise, look for a job somewhere else, or wait till in the future they relax things more and reapply.

Regarding adco and other petrol companies, i cannot comment directly on those companies, but each company sometimes follows a certain policy where they stop hiring certain nationalities in order to avoid the hassle faced with security clearance.

According to Professional HR circles within the UAE, There has been a massive surge recently on hiring westerns and Asians within High payed AbuDhabi Government Jobs, so if you fall within these nationalities it is a good time to apply.

One last advise, if u live in the UAE please DO NOT cancel your visa and leave the uae UNTIL you get a visa from your hiring company. Do not even leave your job until you get a 100% confirmation that your visa is stamped. IF you are already on a residence visa, YOU DO NOT have to leave the country to get your new visa, you can simply pay a certain fee to stay, even if your PRO says otherwise. I have seen so many ppl ruin their lives by leaving the Uae and then getting stuck. Never do that.

Again, i do hope the Abu Dhabi Government with its great vision leadership addresses these issues and relaxes security clearances for nationalities that are suffering.

Got the contract from ADMA

hparacha's picture

Can anyone shed light on the terms and conditions in the contract send by the ADNOC Group?

My Husband has received one. Nothing is mentioned about the entitlements other than the salary like accommodation, education for kids, furniture allowance and the general allowance. It does say that the government labour laws are applied to all the matters not covered in the company handbook. Although they have send an email to tell all the entitlements.

My husband is quite worried about all these. Comments from experts like Ebdoosh will be highly appreciated.

I think this issue came up in 2011 and it was clarified by the syrian or lebanon embassy (UAE) which was a feeded statement (no one agreed with it)... Basically it was due to the unrest situation in Arab world....

Pakistani's got the rejection soon after Osama bin Ladin's death on 1-2nd June 2011 (approximately)... a press release was given by Qatar newspaper that 5-6 nationalities will face some problem till the end of this year or feb /march 2012...
Bin ladin's family is in GCC...

even female's house wifes are facing rejections but kids are getting the visa.... or visa versa

do a google search... it is a press release...

oh... our dear uae government has rejected everything mentioned above...

My visa rejected citing "Security Reason"

syedahmedyasir's picture

I am Pakistani national, got the job offer from an IT company in Abu Dhabi. I send the required documents included the original degree to the employer. They first got the original degree attested from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi and applied for work permit in MOL UAE. They got the work permit for me. Afterwards they applied for visa to MOI (or immigration deparpartment) but after waiting for around two weeks I got the email from the employer that my visa is rejected by immigration "citing security reason.

I want to mention here that many of my collegues/friends in Pakistan got the UAE visa without any problem.

I haven't been involved in any criminal activity throughout my life. I feel very embarrasing for visa rejection. I am quite concerned about this as it is affecting my career. Can anyone suggest what should I do to get the security clearance? What might be the reason of not getting "Security Clearance"?

Update

KingB's picture

Sorry all for lack of update, but i will do my best to answer all your questions.

To remondmark, it is up to you and any individual to believe or not to believe, i do my best to provide the people with information based on professional HR circles in the UAE with actual expereince. Interesting that you are not even in the country and you claim to know the entire system.

Anyway as i said before, and as proven by many posts here, some Arab nationals DO NOT have problem with security clearance (such as Jordanians). Abu DHabi government has eased the problem on some nationalities, i have seen a lot of egyptians and syrians get accepted with clearance & at the SAME time many get rejected. There is no clear reason as it seems to be based on certain criteria or random selection. Hopefully when the political situation in those countries improve, maybe then things will be better.

Some nationalities suffer from 100% rejection Rate such as Yemen, again i do hope the great Government of Abu Dhabi provides relief for these nationalities that suffer the most such as Yemen in order for their people to work.

Regarding syedahmed and other pakistanis who are having problem with Visa. Please note that this is an entirely different issue. What you are talking about is VISA security clearance and not job security clearance they are v different things. What most people here are talking about is JOB security clearance. Anyway, in that case i have heard thing happening for some nationalities from arabic countries, pakistan and bangali . I am guessing it might be due to your name being matching with illegal immigrant or someone stole your passport number, because a lot of people from these countries come illegali in the UAE so the government protects their security this way. Also i think pakistan and bangali passport are not computerized they are still handwritten which creates a lot of problems for the uae. As i said none of this is for sure but they are only possiblities. The only way for you to solve this if you are not inside UAE is to contact your PRO officer from the company offering you a job to check with immigration department how to clear your name.

Security Clearance Rejection for Algerians

sabkab's picture

We are suffering from this issue, we are an Algerian family living in UAE since 2001, my husband recently has joined a new company but still his visa is pending for security reason (Security Clearance Rejected). Can anybody tell us when this issue will be solved ? We are really suffering from that. My children who are 6 Yrs & 8 Yrs are without health insurance, my son is sick now and I cannot take him to the doctor. I hope the UAE officials will do something to help us.
2 days ago we heard by a friend that a visa was issued for a Tunisian national, and 3 weeks ago, visa was issued for an Egyptian after failing 2 times to renew it.
I think what is happening to us is not fair, because we love UAE. We are not new in the country.

Good day! I will be a bit off

nurse_ph's picture

Good day! I will be a bit off topic.. I have been searching for enlightenment on this issue..

Is security clearance same with the CID approval?

I am presently working in a private hospital and just recently I got an offer from SEHA. I am still under my limited contract in my present company. I am down to my last 6 months of the contract. I have submitted all documents for SEHA and even finished the police clearance and medical exam. Just last week they informed me that I got the CID approval and they sent me the offer letter. They advised me to resign from my present company. I understand that my present company will impose a labor ban for me but then since I will be transferring to a government facility this can be lifter. My concern though is the possibility of Immigration Ban. Does getting a CID approval equates to the smooth process in Immigration should my present company impose Immigration ban for me?

Please if someone can enlighten me regarding this matter, Again I apologize for going a bit off topic. Thank you
