New Speeds limit to be enforced in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi police to enforce new speeds limit on all the roads in the emirate starting 2011, after completion of the re-examine and evaluate the results of the speeds on roads in the emirate in cooperation with the Department of Transport, and the municipalities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and the Western Region.

Colonel Hussain Ahmad Al Harithi, director of Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Department, urged all motorists to follow the new speed limits even in residential areas, which will be enforced as part of the new rules, he explained that the new speeds within residential areas to be ranged between 20 and 40 km/hour, pointing out that there has been no change to the speed control radar on the roads between Abu Dhabi - Al Ain, Abu Dhabi - Dubia.

He added, the changes are being made after extensive studies on the traffic requirements of the emirate in the next decade.
He said the new rules emphasis road safety.

You must be kidding, driving in speed of 40 will be like walking, and am sure other 4x4 cars will drive over you, cant they enforce the law without wasting our time?
